Reduce the digital divide to ensure inclusive education: Dr. Salim in a Webinar on SDG

Professor Dr. Salim said that education helps to develop as a skilled person by broadening and enriching the scope of knowledge by expanding insight. In fact, a well-educated person is strong in self-awareness through his intellect, thinking, wisdom and creativity. The main goal of SDG-4 is to ensure inclusive, sustainable, equitable and quality education for all in the society. In order to ensure education for all around the world, Global Action Program has been identified five priorities in the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) which includes concerned policy supports, whole institutional approaches, educators, youth and local communities.

Professor Dr. Salim Uddin also said that effective steps are needed to make up unattainable targets or adverse COVID 19 Impacts as well as deficiencies in the education sector due to pandemic long closure. In particular, to ensure the protection of the physical and mental health of the students, to resume the urgent educational activities in accordance with the rules of hygiene, to monitor the students from primary to higher secondary for ensuring the return of each student to educational institution to stop dropout, to distribute nutritious food in educational institutions, He also highlighted a number of specific proposals, including the elimination of inequality in rural-urban educational institutions, adequate allocations in the education sector, as well as incentives when needed.

Noman Ullah Bahar, President of the SDG Youth Forum presided over the webinar while Dr Muhammad Kamal Uddin conducted the session. It was broadcasted from the SDG Youth Forum Facebook page on February 8 and the welcome speech was given by Dr. Dev Doland, Advisor of the quality education program of SDG Youth Forum and the registrar of BRACUniversity.
