  Date : 18-04-2024

MT Desk: The authorities of Biman Bangladesh Airlines have recovered lands belonging to the national flag carrier worth Tk 200 crore which had been occupied illegally. The lands were recovered in a drive led by Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Mohibul Haque with the help of Biman Bangladesh Airlines magistrate Md Zia Uddin Ahmed.

A total of 13 katha and 8 chhatak lands were recovered, said a press release. On July 12, 1987, Housing and Public Works Ministry allotted plots numbered 6, 8 and 10 on Satmasjid Road in Dhanmondi to Biman on lease for 99 years for office activities.

But some land grabbers had illegally taken over the plots by June of 1989, which came to the notice of Secretary Mohibul Haque when he started a process to recover the lands.
