A, K, M Belal Uddin, Chakaria: At least eight people, including a Juba League leader, were shot dead by terrorists while trying to block a 30-acre shrimp farm at Chakaria in Cox`s Bazar, led by the Forest Department`s headman. A case has been filed against 28 people in the incident. 8 people have been named as accused in the case. Among them is the name of Sajjad, the president of Dulahajara Union Chhatra League.
According to the police, the case was filed with the police station on Thursday night by Nurul Amin, son of Shahab Miah, headman of Fansiakhali Forest Beat in Cox`s Bazar North Forest Division and Ringwang Chagirshah Katar. Earlier, on March 28, at around midnight, the attack took place in the Ringwang area on a 30-acre shrimp farm in RS 213 Dag, Khatian No. RS 65 owned by the forest department. Upon receiving the news of the incident, the police visited the spot and found the truth of the incident.
Villager Abdul Hamid (65), senior joint convener of Dulahazara Union Juba League Aman Ullah (36), Chaber Ahmed (45), Abdur Rahim (50) and Osman Ali (25) are undergoing treatment at different hospitals including ChittagongMedicalCollegeHospital. Belal Uddin (35), Abdul Quader (32), Nur Quader (18). Among them, Juba League leader Aman Ullah has been stabbed by the terrorists. Currently his condition is critical.
On the other hand, the six accused in the case are Kashem Ali, Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Arafat, Rabbat Ali, Mohammad Farhad, Mohammad Idris, Ahmad Ali and Sajjad Hossain of Ringbong Chagirshah Kata village. Besides, 20 more people have been made anonymous accused in the case.
The plaintiff in the case Nurul Amin alleged that while trying to seize the shrimp enclosure, the terrorists opened fire and terrorized the enclosure. They also looted a total of 1 lakh 52 thousand Taka including two nets including other goods. At that time 8 people were shot and injured.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station Shaker Mohammad Jubayer said that the police immediately visited the spot after receiving information about attempts to grab the land of the shrimp project owned by the forest department and firing. After a thorough investigation, the headman of the forest department became the plaintiff and gave a statement to the police station. Police are continuing their operation to arrest the accused in the case.
