Mehedi Hasan Tanim, Gurudaspur: A farmer named Shahidul Islam in Gurudaspur of Natore has been accused of cutting 6 bighas of land (wheat). The incident took place in Naopara area of Chapila union of the upazila on Friday night. The affected farmer is the son of the late Kudrat Ali Sardar of the area. Farmer Shahidul Islam has lodged a written complaint with Gurudaspur police station in the name of 8 people.

According to local sources, Shahidul Islam has 6 bighas of land in Naopara field of Naopara mouza. He has been cultivating that land for a long time. However, from time to time, some residents living next to the land, including Saher Ali Sarkar, son of the deceased Maidan Maidan, Shamsul Haque and Shamim Hossain, sons of Md. Mubarak Sarkar, and 4-5 other people demanded the land and harvested the crop. If they protest, they threaten to kill.

Farmer Shahidul Islam said he has a wife and two sons. The children`s education and household expenses are covered by the money to produce crops on that land and the sale of labor on other people`s land. Late on Friday night, 20/25 unidentified persons with sharp razors, scissors and sticks cut the crop (wheat) of his land. The amount is about 100 mounds and the market value is 1 lakh 30 thousand rupees. The accused claimed ownership of his land. But a case is pending in the court regarding this land. He demanded speedy trial of all those involved in the harvest.

Accused Shamsul Haque said, we have harvested our land. However, when asked why he spent the night in the dark, he avoided.
