Liakut, Rajshahi Bureau: Three people, including a couple, were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-powered autorickshaw and a truck in Rajshahi.
The accident took place on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway in Muraripur area of ​​Paba upazila on Wednesday noon. Another CNG autorickshaw driver was killed.
The deceased were identified as Abdus Sattar, 55, a resident of Ghasialpara village under Gomstapur upazila of Chapainawabganj, his wife Ferdousi Begum, 48, and CNG autorickshaw driver Ansar Ali, 45. His home is in Bagdas village of Gomstapur upazila. Father`s name is Isaac Bihari.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajshahi`s Damkura Police Station Mahbub Hossain said Abdus Sattar was on his way to Rajshahi Medical College (RAMEC) Hospital from Gomstapur with his ailing wife. On the way, another young man named Raihan Shuvo (28) got into the autorickshaw from Godagari in Rajshahi. The CNG autorickshaw collided with a truck heading to Chapainabganj after it reached Muraripur area of ​​Paba upazila.
Ferdousi Begum and CNG driver Ansar Ali were killed on the spot. The locals rescued the injured Sattar and Shuvo and sent them to RamekHospital. Sattar died shortly afterwards while undergoing treatment there. The physical condition of the injured person is also not good.
The OC added that the driver-helper of the truck fled after the accident. The truck was seized. The twisted CNG autorickshaw was also recovered. After the autopsy at Ramek`s morgue, the victims will be handed over to their relatives. The OC also said that a case will be filed with the police station.
