Bangladesh records highest daily death toll since start of pandemic

Online Desk: 77 more die, another 5,343 test positive in 24 hours

Bangladesh has reported 77 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the highest daily figure since the pandemic began, as the government plans to enforce another weeklong lockdown with stricter rules from April 14.

With the latest figure, the number of total fatalities rose to 9,661 till Saturday morning.

Besides, the country logged more than 678,000 Covid-19 cases with 5,343 people testing positive in the 24-hour span.

With the fresh infections, the number of total confirmed cases jumped to 678,937, according to the daily virus update released on Saturday afternoon by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
