Looting and arson in houses at Chakaria

AKM Belal Uddin, Chakaria: There are allegations of looting and setting fire to houses in Chakaria municipal area of ​​Cox`s Bazar. The fire brigade reached the spot and brought the fire under control. As a result, numerous settlements and businesses in the vicinity were protected from further damage. The incident took place at around 8:30 pm on April 10 in Nijpankhali Moulvirkum Bazar area of ​​ChakariaMunicipality`s 7th ward.

Chhatra League leader Mohammad Majnu, son of Kamal Uddin Dhalu, the owner of the damaged house, complained that his family was having a land dispute with his neighbor Abul Ahmed Ganguly. Enye arrested his father Kamal Uddin Dhalu in a false case (GR 87/21) on 23 February `21 and sent him to jail. All the family members including 80-year-old grandfather Md. Shafi are accused in the case. Later on 24 February, the opposition people attacked and looted their houses. His mother Shahena Begum became the plaintiff and filed a case (No. CR 316/21) in Chakaria Court on March 1, `21. The police called the police service center on 999 and brought the situation under control. Then in front of the police they set the house on fire and threatened to cause great damage.

Md. Majnu further complained that Abul Ahmed, Belal Uddin, Md. Manik, Nurul Kabir, Mohiuddin, Md. Tashin and Zarina Begum Gang entered the house through the back door of the kitchen in the dark at around 8.30 pm. Carried out looting. Opponents set the house on fire from behind the kitchen. Upon receiving the news, Chakaria immediately reached the fire service and brought the fire under control and a team of police led by Sub-Inspector Golam Sarwar visited the site.
