The streets of the city have been completely empty since Wednesday morning. A couple of rickshaws, motorcycles and emergency services were seen plying the road. All the markets in the city are closed. There is a quiet silence in the city now.
Police have taken up positions at every important corner of the city. If anyone goes out on the street, they have to read in the face of police interrogation. If there is an urgent work, the police members are instructing him to finish the work quickly and return home. Cox`s Bazar Superintendent of Police Md Hasanuzzaman is inspecting the police activities and giving instructions to the police officers on duty.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Md Hasanuzzaman said, "Today is the first day of strict ban on the spread of corona virus. Apart from district police checkposts and surveillance at various corners, tourist police and district police are also patrolling the beach."
He added, "Strict surveillance by the Cox`s Bazar district police will continue to enforce the ban announced by the government to prevent corona infection."

The executive magistrates of Cox`s Bazar district administration are also in the field to implement the lockdown as directed by the government.
Sadia Sultana, executive magistrate of the district administration, said Panahar Suites and Restaurant in Panbazar was fined Tk 2,000 and two pedestrians were fined Tk 500 for wandering outside Fishery Ghat for disobeying the lockdown order. Besides, everyone is being urged to stay at home without any urgent need by miking.
The government has issued a notification announcing a strict lockdown for seven days from Wednesday after the first phase of the ban on human movement and activities due to the severe increase in coronavirus infection. All government and non-government offices and public transport will be closed till midnight on April 21 except for emergency services across the country.
