Online Desk : Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said presently there is no other politics of Awami League except standing beside the common people as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The minister stated this while addressing a function of distribution of food and clothes among the affected people due to COVID-19 pandemic on behalf of the Prime Minister.

The programme was organized by Awami League Darus Salam thana unit of Dhaka City North at a community center in city’s Darus Salam.

Hasan said, as how BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir talked on TVs through online, it seems that he is an expert on Coronavirus. “We know, he (Mirza Fakhrul) was a teacher of Dhaka College. But now it seems that he has passed FRCS and become an expert on COVID- 19,” he added.

The minister said Mirza Fakhrul Islam told that the government didn’t understand the Coronavirus from the very beginning. But the reality is that no one died due to starvation in last 14 months for the farsighted leadership and time befitting steps of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Hasan, also AL joint general Secretary.

He said according to the World Health Organization, Bangladesh’s position is on top in tackling the COVID-19 situation in South Asia. And the position of the country is 3rd among the 20 countries across the globe with its positive GDP growth, he added.

Besides, he said, BNP and their friends are criticizing the government only on TVs and online.

On the other hand, Awami League stands beside the countrymen during the prevailing pandemic as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. And this is the politics of Awami League, he added.
In his speech, Hasan prayed for early recovery of BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia. “I pray for her early recovery. She will come back home defeating COVID-19, and this is my prayer to the Almighty Allah,” he added.

The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shown her unprecedented generosity by extending Begum Khaleda Zia’s release from jail for two times. And now, she (Khaleda Zia) is taking treatment as per her convenience, he added.

AL Dhaka North unit president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and general secretary SM Mannan Kachi addressed the function as special guests with AL Darus Salam thana unit president ABM Mazharul Anam in the chair.

Later, the minister handed over food and clothes among about 1000 affected people. BSS
