Sundarbans are not only in Bangladesh, but the world`s wealth: US Ambassador

Bagerhat Correspondent: US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl Robert Miller said, "The United States government is working with the current government on climate change and protection of the Sundarbans, funding for various projects. The government, especially the Hon`ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is very sincere in protecting the Sundarbans and the environment. ” After the three-day visit to Sundarbans, US Ambassador Miller spoke. He told reporters on Tuesday in the Gholam area of ​​Jaymani in Mongla of Bagerhat. Miller said, “The number of tigers in the Sundarbans is increasing again. Which is hopeful for all the children in the world, including your children, especially the next generation. Everyone should work to protect the rare animals, including Bengal tigers, dolphins, chitra deer in the Sundarbans. ”The US ambassador added,“ The first Sundarbans came to life and stayed for two and a half days. It`s a unique experience in my life. ` Earlier Robert Miller said Sundarbans are not just a wealth of Bangladesh; It is the world`s wealth. It is very hopeful that the government, law enforcement agencies and many other organizations are working to protect the Sundarbans and its biodiversity, especially Bengal Tiger. People from the coastal areas are also working to protect the biodiversity of the Sundarbans.

East Sundarbans Divisional Officer Belayet Hossain said that the US ambassador visited Sundarbans last Sunday with his three traveling companions. During this time, he visited various places including Harbariya, Katka, Kochikhali, Alor Kol, Sundarbans. He expressed satisfaction with the forest department`s wild animal conservation system.

The ambassador returned from the Sundarbans this morning to meet with representatives of the US-funded Wild Team, Tiger Band, USID and CMC in Jaymani`s Ghole area. During this time, he also observed the tiger breeding activities of the `Village Tiger Response Team`. Also present at the meeting were American Embassy Director Dirk Brown, Wild Team CO Anwarul Islam, East Forest Department Divisional Forest Officer Belayet Hossain, Assistant Superintendent of Police for the MonglaRange, Asif Iqbal, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Mongla, Nayan Kumar. Later in the afternoon, he departed for Dhaka on a C-plane.
