Tamim Iqbal wrote his name in history books with Bangladesh`s highest individual score after scoring an unbeaten 334 in a Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The Bangladesh Cricket Board praised the effort of the left-hander at the end of the third day`s play, who stayed at the crease for 585 minutes for his triple ton and remained unbeaten after having faced 426 balls.
"I was very determined," Tamim said on Sunday. "The wicket was playing good and the wicket was not spinning or doing that much and so I kept it very simple. After scoring three hundred, I took some chances. And in the whole innings I don`t think I had to do anything special. I just kept on batting, playing cricketing shots. And I was looking for boundary options rather than hitting over boundaries." Tamim said that this innings will remain close to his heart as a special one but added that he did not think about it until he reached 280 runs. "Till I had already made 260-270, I was not thinking about it [triple century]. When I touched 280, then I started thinking about it. If I had kept on thinking about it more, then it would have hampered my chances. So I tried to keep it very simple. That actually worked for me, which was good. Obviously it is a special feeling. Scoring 300... I never thought that I would score a triple hundred.
Everyone dreams definitely but I never thought it would come in this match. The most important thing for me was how I batted, more than how much runs I made. The most pleasing thing was how I batted. Happy but I hope that I can continue the same form," he added. With the triple century, he became only the second batsman from Bangladesh - after Raqibul Hasan - to score a triple hundred and when he moved to 314 runs, he registered his name as the highest individual scorer for his country.
