Youth gets life in prison for raping woman

Online Desk : A Joypurhat court on Sunday sentenced a young man to life in prison for raping a woman luring her a job in 2007.

Lifer Habil Uddin, 33, a resident of College Para in Kalai upazila, was also fined Tk 3 lakh, and in default, he will have to serve three more years in jail.

The district Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Rustom Ali handed down the verdict.

Quoting the case statement, prosecutor Firoza Chowdhury said Habil took the woman of Durunja area in the upazila on March 6, 2007, promising her a job but he violated her there.

Later, the victim`s sister lodged the case with Kalai Police Station in this connection.
