Turkey, Bangladesh are brotherly Muslim countries with very strong historic ties, says Turkish envoy

Md. Kamruzzaman: Turkey’s state-run aid agency on Wednesday donated furniture and equipment for a religious school in Bangladesh.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) provided 200 chairs, 200 benches, 200 tables, and 20 whiteboards for classrooms of the Serajnagar Ummulquran Fazil Madrasa in the central Narsingdi district, located some 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the capital Dhaka.

TIKA also gave 50 tables for teachers and two large tables for common rooms at the school, along with 500 school bags for students.

Other items provided by the Turkish aid agency include a sound system, a backup power system, a generator, a desktop computer, a television, and a dais.

The distribution ceremony was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Mustafa Osman Turan and Ismail Gundogdu, TIKA coordinator in Dhaka.

Turan said Bangladesh is a brotherly Muslim country for Turkey and the two nations have very strong historic ties.

“We hope that students will remember this contribution from Turkey and such gestures help increase people-to-people connectivity between the two fraternal countries,” he said.

Gundogdu reaffirmed TIKA’s commitment to provide assistance in Bangladesh.

Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman, principal of the school, said the students and administration are “grateful to the Turkish government and such contributions will increase love for Turkey in Bangladesh.”
