No repeat of caretaker govt, says Hanif
  Date : 20-04-2024

Online Report : Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Saturday said that there will no more caretaker government in Bangladesh.

“The apex court of the country in a verdict said that a caretaker government will never be formed in Bangladesh. It is a democratic right of a political party if they decide not to join in the election. Those who disobey the verdict of the apex court of the country want to see a fictitious government (they should know) that it would not happen again,” Hanif said this at grassroots level council of Chandpur district unit Awami League.

Hanif said, “Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is currently saying that Awami League will not get 30 seats in the next elections but I want to say that Khaleda Zia also said this in several rallies during the BNP rule from 2001 to 2006. The cruel irony of fate is that in 2008 elections, Khaleda Zia secured less than 30 seats.”

He further said, “They (BNP) know that there is no chance for them to win the next election. They would be neglected by the people again in the election because they have not done anything for the country or the people that is why the people will trust them.”

“BNP has moved so far away from the people because of their every evil deed, terrorism, corruption and killing people hurling petrol bombs. The next election is a long way off and there are doubts whether the BNP will ever come to power in their lifetime.”

Hanif said, “We want all parties to participate in the elections and the people to vote for the candidate of their choice.”
