Nationwide truck, covered van strike from Friday
  Date : 24-04-2024

Online Desk : Truck and covered van owners have called for a nationwide strike from Friday as the government raised the price of diesel at the retail level by Tk15 per litre.

Md Majumder, General Secretary of Bangladesh Truck-Covered Van Owners’ Association, confirmed the matter to News on Thursday.

He said the government has increased the fuel price and it is impossible for us to run the vehicles. There is no logic to increase the price in such way.

However, Dhaka Road Transport Owners’ Association have warned the government that they will stop plying of the public transport.

Khandaker Enayet Ullah, General Secretary of the association, said that they are not willing to keep public transport running in protest of rising diesel price.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) raised the prices of diesel and kerosene at the retail level by Tk15 per litre in order to keep them in line with the global market.

The new price of diesel and kerosene in the country is Tk 80 litre. The previous price of a litre of diesel and kerosene in Bangladesh was Tk 65.
