Coronavirus: Petition seeks closure of all courts
  Date : 20-04-2024

A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking directives on the authorities concerned to close all the courts across the country to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Law and Life Foundation submitted the petition on Wednesday morning.
The organisation, in the petition, prayed to the HC to ask the government to form a high-powered monitoring committee to examine whether the quarantine centres run properly.

The petition also asks for the obligation to quarantine returnees from abroad in the state-designated centres.

The secretaries of the law, health, foreign affairs, aviation and tourism ministries, the director general of health and Supreme Court registrar have been made the respondents to the petition

Confirming the news, the petitioner`s lawyer Barrister Humayun Kabir Pallab said the HC may hold a hearing on the petition later in the day.
