Online Report : A case has been filed against Dr Murad Hasan who has lost the portfolio of state minister in sequel to making obscene and filthy remarks.

The case was filed on Tuesday with Shahbagh Police Station in the capital. Julius Caeser Talukder, a student of Dhaka University, filed the case.

Shahbagh Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Moudud Howlader said on Tuesday evening that the DU student Julius Caeser Talukder submitted a written complaint on behalf of the DU students. Charges were placed against him to create conflict among a group of Dhaka University students.

It was disclosed by Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader while talking to journalists at a press conference at his secretariat office in the capital on Tuesday.

"Decision on Murad Hasan will be taken at the party`s next central working committee meeting," he said.

Last month, Gazipur city mayor Jahangir Alam was expelled for life from Awami League. The same thing is going to happen in case of newly resigned state minister for information Murad Hasan, said Obaidul Quader.

"What happened to Jahangir [Alam], will also happen to Dr Murad. However, there is no scope to do it without the party`s working committee meeting," he said.

Following Obaidul Quader`s remarks, it was learnt that Murad Hasan was relieved from Jamalpur District Awami League Health and Population Affairs Secretary post.

According to the Bangladesh constitution, a person shall be disqualified for being a member of parliament who has been on conviction for a criminal offence involving moral turpitude. Though Murad Hasan has not been convicted, his phone conversation threatening to rape a film actress has spread over a social medium. Asked whether he will be able to hold his MP post, Obaidul Quader said, "The Speaker will take decision if any serious complain against him is received."

There is a long list of allegations against Murad Hasan. There are many grave allegations surfaced against him including uttering obscene and racist remarks against Khaleda Zia and her daughter-in-law Zaima Rahman, threat to pick up an actress to his hotel room using a state agency, threat to rape her, and using obscene words.

Asked which of the above mentioned allegation was responsible for his removal from the cabinet, Obaidul Quader said: "Sheikh Hasina`s position is very clear. She is very strict against any kind of misdeed. Whoever the criminal is, he or she is not above the law. Sheikh Hasina has proved it."
