17 brick kilns fined in Kushtia

Abdur Razzak, Kushtia: The Department of Environment has launched a campaign against brick kiln management and wood burning. The raid, which started at 9 am on Sunday, fined 17 illegal brick kilns in  Bheramara of Tk 43 lakh 10 thousand. Of this, MHT brick kiln paid fines Tk 250,000 , Tk 250,000 for RMB and MRI brick kilns, Tk 200,000 for Manik Bricks, Tk 100,000 for MH Bricks,Tk 400,000 for AMB Bricks, Tk 200,000 for RBF Bricks, Tk 4 lacs for MBF Bricks, Tk 4 lakh for BBF Brick, Tk 150,000 for 4 Star Bricks, Tk 2 lakh for AMB BRICS, Tk 3 lakh for K&B BRICS, Tk 3 lakh for MRM BRICS, Tk 3 lakh for MSS BRICS, Tk 260,000 for SRB BRICS And Ektara Brics was fined Tk 2 lakh.

Executive Magistrate Sayeda Parveen of Department of Environment of Dhaka conducted the operation. Kushtia Environment Department Deputy Director Ataur Rahman, Assistant Director Kamal Kumar Barman and members of law enforcement were present during the drive. Executive Magistrate Saida Parveen said the kilns were fined under the Brick Making and Kiln Installation Act 2013 as amended in 2019. Kushtia Environment Department Deputy Director Ataur Rahman said there are a total of 126 brickfields in Kushtia district. Of which only 18 brick kilns have valid licenses. But these brick kilns have been operating day after day violating the law . Many of them have been managing brick kilns by filing writ petitions in the High Court. The official said that the operation against these illegal brick kilns will continue.
