Illegal fuel wood truck seized in Cox’s Bazar

Abu Sayem, Cox’s Bazar: A special team of Cox`s Bazar North Forest Department seized 600 cubic feet of fuel wood and a transporting trucks.

According to the Forest Department, the firewood was seized illegally on Chakaria Manikpur Road on January 27 (Thursday) around 2pm. About 600 cubic feet of illegal firewood was seized during this time.

AKM Ata Elahi, OC of the special team and city range officer, said that on the basis of secret information, a group of forest workers raided the Chakaria-Manikpur road in Cox`s Bazar and seized about 600 cubic feet of illegal firewood and brought it to FansiakhaliRange custody.

At that time, the smugglers left the truck full of fuel wood and fled. The daily campaign to prevent timber smuggling will continue.

Md. Anwar Hossain Sarkar, Divisional Forest Officer, Cox`s Bazar North Forest Department, said that the forest department is alert and vigilant against encroachment of forest land, illegal timber smuggling and cutting down hills. As part of the regular operation, the special team conducted a special operation and seized about 600 cubic feet of fuel wood. A case will be filed under the Forest Act against the accused and those involved, he said.
