Coronavirus: 20 new deaths, 5023 cases

MT Desk : Twenty more people died from coronavirus and 5,023 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,791 and 19,04,826 respectively, a health directorate press release on Saturday.

As many as 29,904 samples were collected, and 30,448 tested in the past day.

During the period, 8,821 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 16,64,802.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 409,335,552 people and killed 5,822,572 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 329,655,400 across the world.
