No alternative to unity to tackle COVID-19 disaster: Quader
  Date : 19-04-2024

News Desk: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader
on Friday said there is no alternative to unity in tackling the ongoing
coronavirus pandemic. “There is no alternative to unity in tackling this disaster created due to
coronavirus outbreak. We must continue the ongoing preventive efforts under
the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, aiming to tackle this (COVID-
19) disaster in unison,” he said in a video message issued from his official
residence in the capital.

“With the united efforts of all, the dark cloud of coronavirus will fade
away soon (from the sky)…Insha-Allah,” he added.

Expressing gratitude to those who have been fighting coronavirus from the
frontlines, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said the
government has given priority to the health safety of the coronavirus
fighters.

Noting that the government has already overcame its limitation in dealing
with COVID-19 crisis, he said its coronavirus testing capacity has increased,
while 29 private hospitals have started testing the samples of COVID-19
patients.

“We have limitations. But we have experience too in addressing disasters,”
he added.

Referring to the global coronavirus situation, the AL general secretary
said the limitations of many developed countries are visible in the current
crisis.

“There is no reason to lose our courage. We have an honest and courageous
leader like Sheikh Hasina in addressing this crisis,” he added.

On the occasion of May Day, Quader greeted the country’s workers and
labourers on behalf of the ruling Awami League.

He urged the authorities concerned to implement Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina’s pledge of providing support for all labourers, including transport
workers, amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis by preparing a list of them.
