  Date : 17-04-2024

Former Bangladesh opener Nafees Iqbal informed on Wednesday that he had been tested negative for coronavirus. Nafees said that he and his family members that include his mother wife and children are safe now. The 34-year-old also urged everyone to pray for their well being.

"Assalamualaikum everyone. Everyone all of us, my family, my mother all of us tested negative. So Alhamdulillah. All for your prayers, the way you have taken care, the way you have taken information, not only as a journalist but also showed your thoughts, your care personally and I am sure you have prayed, as a result of which I may have been negative," Nafees Iqbal told reporters on Wednesday.

"So do the prayer this way. Thank you so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you on behalf of my family," he added. Nafees is the elder brother of current ODI skipper and also another veteran and most successful opener of Bangladesh Tamim Iqbal, confirmed coronavirus positive on 20 June.

He and his family members were in isolation in Chittagong before the report came as negative. The right-hander former opening batsman made his debut for Bangladesh in 2003.
Nafees played 11 Tests and 16 ODIs for Bangladesh, scoring 518 and 309 runs respectively.
