BSMMU begins coronavirus treatment from today
  Date : 25-04-2024

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has opened a 370-bed ‘Corona Centre’ today for providing treatment to the coronavirus-infected patients. “We’ll start admitting corona patients at 8am  on Saturday as our 370-bed Covid-19 centre is ready to deal with such patients," BSMMU Vice Chancellor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua told UNB on Friday night.
He said they have designated 250 beds at the ‘Cabin Block’ and 120 ones in the ‘Betar Bhaban’ for the treatment of corona-infected patients.

Dr Kanak Kanti said the 120 beds in the Betar Bhaban will be used as isolation centre where patients having moderate complications will be accommodated. “The patients who have serious complications like breathing problem will be accommodated  at the beds of Cabin Block,” he said.

Out of 250 beds at the Cabin Block, the VC said, 24 will be kept reserved for emergency patients. Besides, he said, there are 15 beds with intensive care unit (ICU) facilities to deal with the very cortical patients.

He said all the beds at the Cabin Block have oxygen support from the central oxygen plant and other treatment facilities like high-flow nasal cannula.
