Even after doubling the bus fare, the social distance not complied
  Date : 20-04-2024

Abdur Razzak Bachchu, Kushtia: The government has directed to keep half the passengers in each bus and minibus while maintaining social distance to prevent corona infection. But most of the buses in Kushtia are not following this instruction. However, the burden of 60 percent fare increase is being pulled by the passengers. Additional passengers are being picked up in every bus plying on Kushtia-Meherpur road. This increases the risk of corona infection. Passengers are also unknowingly getting on the buses. As a result, the number of corona patients is increasing every day. On Monday (August 10), the Kushtia Chowdhury Terminal was visited and it was seen that the drivers and helpers were not following the hygiene rules. They don`t have masks on their faces, they don`t have gloves on their hands, the car seats are dirty. Besides, social distance is not being taken into account in public transport. Passengers complain that bus drivers are taking extra fare. But according to the rules, it is not allowed to sit in two seats one by one. The buses are running with extra passengers. A passenger named Abdul Majid said that earlier the fare from Kushtia to Mirpur was 20 Taka. But now I have to go with 40 Taka. But according to the rules, even if one person is supposed to sit in every two seats, it is not being accepted. Sachetan Mahal of Kushtia said that the easybikes, autorickshaws driven by the bat are traveling freely on all the roads of the district. Ordinary people are traveling in those vehicles including buses. But to prevent corona, the distance from one person to another is said to be at least 3 feet. But that is not being accepted. As a result, there is a risk of increased corona infection. Kushtia BRTA inspector Omar Farooq said, "I have received complaints that social distance is not being observed in the buses. I have informed the matter to the Deputy Commissioner. The operation will be conducted soon.
