Liaquat Hossain, Rajshahi: Rajshahi City Corporation has observed the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day 2020 with due dignity. Hon`ble Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and councilors paid their respects by laying a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Nagar Bhaban premises at 12 noon on Saturday. Wreaths were then laid separately by the officers-employees and employees` unions. After the wreath-laying, prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the souls of all the martyrs including Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members, four national leaders.

Earlier, the national flag was hoisted at half-mast at Nagar Bhaban and all ward councilor`s offices at sunrise on August 15. Doa mahfil was held in all the Jami Masjid including Nagar Bhaban, Sonadighi Jami Masjid to seek forgiveness of the souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyred members of his family. In addition, special prayers are offered in the shrines of other religions. The month-long black badge and coatpin with Bangabandhu`s portrait were also displayed and banners were displayed at Nagar Bhaban and every ward office to pay homage to Bangabandhu and the martyred members of his family and Bangabandhu`s historic March 7th speech was broadcast.
