PM`s relief assistance to Ramgati victims of Meghna tide

Md. Nizam Uddin, Laxmipur: Many people have been affected by the unusual tide of Meghna in Ramgati of Laxmipur. Among them, the gift items given by the Prime Minister have been delivered to the houses of the extremely poor by the Upazila administration. On Sunday afternoon, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Mohammad Ali distributed packets of rice, pulses, daily necessities and dry food among the affected families of Tanki Sluice Gate and Tanki Bazar area of ​​Chargazi Union in the coastal area of ​​Meghna. The UNO said residents of six unions of the upazila and four wards of the municipal area were severely affected by the unusual flooding and heavy rains of the MeghnaRiver. Excessive tidal water has destroyed crops, destroyed tin houses, destroyed roads and culverts, and caused severe damage to fish farms. Besides, a large part of the embankment of the Water Development Board has been breached and water has entered the locality causing waterlogging. Many houses have collapsed in the river.

He added that the amount of damage is being calculated. The list of victims will be prepared and brought under government assistance. Arrangements will be made to repair the damaged dams and roads.

He said, among the poor in the affected areas in two phases on May 30. Tons of rice have been distributed. Tk two lakh cash assistance has been provided.
