Press Release: On the occasion of "45th Martyrdom Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day" on 15 August 2020, an online discussion meeting was held on Tuesday 25 August 2020 at 2:00 PM on the initiative of FareastInternationalUniversity.

Presided over by Mr. Sheikh Kabir Hossain, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Fareast International University and Chairman, Bangladesh Private University Association; Mr. Shibli Rubaiyat-ul-Islam, Chairman, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission and former Dean, Faculty of Business, DhakaUniversity addressed the discussion as the keynote speaker. In his speech, the keynote speaker said that Bangabandhu had worked for the establishment of a hunger-free, poverty-free and non-discriminatory society, so he never considered spending on education as an investment.

In his speech, the President said that government should arrange for the trial of those involved in the murder of Bangabandhu & his family, whether they were dead or alive, and called on the government to form a commission in this regard. He called for organizing seminars at the university level on the theme that education is not an expense but an investment.

Dr.Md. Munjur-e-Khoda Tarafdar, Treasurer and Vice-Chancellor (Acting) FIU, Captain M Moazzem Hossain, Honorary Member, BOT & FIU, Professor Mohammad Fazlul Haque, Registrar, FIU also spoke at the meeting.

At the end of the discussion, prayers were offered for the soul of Bangabandhu and his family members who were martyred on 15 August.

The event was attended by members of the Board of Trustees of Fareast International University, Deans of various faculties, teachers, officials, students and invited guests.
