Standard Asiatic Oil Company lost Tk. 138 crore
  Date : 28-03-2024

Managing Director Moinuddin will be summoned to the ACC

Special Correspondent: Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) is the only government organization to supply liquid fuel to the people of the country from car petrol to home kerosene, industrial furnishings or street bitumen. BPC mainly imports refined and crude oil and relinquishes the responsibility of refining and selling them to seven companies out of which BPC is fully responsible for six of them. But a completely different company is Standard Asiatic Oil Company Ltd. Here the ownership of the partnership is 50:50 share of the government-company.

After Mohammad Shamsur Rahman took over as the chairman of BPC, he saw that the government had Tk. 7,000 crore in those seven institutions. Although the debt was recovered, suspicion arose and an investigation committee was formed. Standard Asiatic Oil Company Ltd. did not cooperate with the inquiry committee. The cat in the bag starts to come out without any suspicion. The organization is sinking due to the greed of some people. Standard Asiatic Oil Company Ltd. is on the verge of collapse today due to the greed of General Manager Mohammad Shahed and Managing Director Moinuddin Ahmed Rony.

In the Patenga area of Chittagong, the engine of Standard Asiatic Oil Company Ltd. works for the engine of oil and lubricant vehicles. The organization is run by a board of directors and a general manager is appointed by the government to look after it. His name is Mohammad Shahed and Moinuddin Ahmed is the managing director from a private company. It is said that Standard Asiatic Oil Company Ltd. is drowning due to these two corrupt brothers. The company`s money is going to the personal accounts of these two officers.

Standard Asiatic Oil Company Ltd. and Asiatic Oil Company Ltd. have a subtle intrigue. It is owned by Moinuddin Ahmed Rony, meaning the money from the pay-order for the sale of oil is going to Moinuddin`s own funds. In this way, Moinuddin Ahmed Rony has deceived the government and committed corruption day after day through General Manager Mohammad Shahed.

That is why Standard Asiatic Oil Company Ltd. did not cooperate with the BPC inquiry committee. BPC has asked for an audit report for the last six years but they have been given only two years. In the investigation of those two years of 2013-2014, corruption of Tk 138 crore came out. The investigation committee has found evidence of money laundering in Asiatic Oil Company through fake vouchers. Moinuddin Ahmed Rony has two more fake companies like Asiatic Oil Company. The money has also been transferred to the accounts of two companies called Pyramid Exim and Goodwin. The money of the government company Standard Asiatic Oil Company Ltd. has been deposited in the bank accounts of Pyramid Exim and Goodwin. Moinuddin Ahmed Rony`s wife Shamima Ahmed Sima is a businessman from Patna. Shamima Ahmed Sima is the mastermind behind the theft of Tk. 138 crore. The Anti-Corruption Commission has already started an investigation into the matter. Although Moinuddin Ahmed was summoned to the ACC on September 16, it was reported that he did not appear in person but appeared through lawyers.
