PM witnesses presentation on JS Bhaban development

News Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday witnessed a presentation on the development activities of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban.
“A power point presentation was made on various aspects of the development of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban, at the prime minister’s official residence at Ganabhaban this morning,” PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.

JS sources said there are 1,321 officials and employees at the parliament secretariat. But they are now facing accommodation problems in the present Sangsad Bhaban.

In this context, presentation was made to utilise 52,097 square feet land of North Plaza of the JS Bhaban for solving accommodation problem of the JS staffers, the press secretary said.

Besides, officials concerned made presentations about the parliament’s unconstructed infrastructures like hospitality (convention) building and community building which were under the plan of its Architect Louis I. Kahn.

Karim said presentations were also made on renovations of main parliament building, MP hostels and five NAM buildings.

During the time, he said, the prime minister gave various directives to the authorities concerned for the development of the JS Bhaban.

JS Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Chief Whip Noor-e-Alam Liton Chowdhury, Awami League’s Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, MP, and Chief Architect of the Department of Architecture ASM Aminur Rahman were present on the occasion, among others.
