Abdur Razzak Bachchu, Kushtia: Influential people have forcibly occupied about 4 and a half bighas of land of a poor family in Paschim Abdalpur village of Kushtia Sadar upazila. The locals mediated and asked him to give up the land but nothing happened. On the contrary, the family is spending their days in terror under the threat of those influential people. The victim Rashedul Islam has also lodged a written complaint with the Kushtia Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police. Earlier, the families were outraged when Awami League leader Golam Mostafa demanded the return of the land. Golam Mostafa and his people are committing various misdeeds by discrediting the name of Awami League. Recently, Abdul Aziz`s son Golam Mostafa in the same area, said. Majid and Nazrul forcibly occupied the land. Golam Mostafa and his brothers, who are influential in the area, did not heed the request of the local Matabars to return the land to the rightful owners after holding several arbitration meetings. The victims have also lodged written complaints with Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Aslam Hossain and Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafat. Golam Mostafa spoke incoherently on his mobile phone about the allegations. He once said that his father Abdul Aziz had bought a lot of land from Rashidul before. However, he does not know whether they have more land than the purchased land. He said they had earlier returned some land to Rashidul. However, he repeatedly asked reporters to meet with him directly. And Rashidul said, Golam Mostafa has occupied about 10 bighas of their land by showing the influence of the party. Earlier, he had promised to return the land to Shalis but did not do so. Instead, they were kept in the Abdalpur camp and tortured. Now I have lodged a written complaint with DC and SP. I hope to find a remedy there.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Aslam Hossain said- there have been complaints about land grabbing. A hearing will be held by calling both the parties in this regard. If anyone occupies the land and takes possession, action will be taken against him. No matter how influential the land robbers are, strict action will be taken against them.
