  Date : 28-03-2024

Md. Sabuj Islam, Ranishankail: Miking is going on in a black jeep in the dark of night, the esteemed aman farmer brothers are being informed that the presence of current insects is being noticed in the current weather. If your paddy field is attacked by current insects, it can be completely destroyed and there is a possibility of severe damage.

Besides, no yield can be obtained. To control the current insects, spray your paddy field with two hands and spray at the base of the paddy plant with the approved pesticide. Contact the Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer of your block today for detailed information.

In this way, Ranishankail Upazila Agriculture Officer Sanjay Debnath and his Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers and employees are campaigning day and night in the village to advise the farmers to control the current insects. The Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers in charge of different blocks of the upazila are also distributing notes on the symptoms of insect attack and spraying rules starting from the yard meeting.

Delwar, a farmer in Kadihat area of the upazila, said rain water was frozen on three bighas of paddy land. After the water dries up, the rice is attacked by large current insects. Later, when the Upazila Agriculture Officer Sanjay Debnathsar was informed, he himself came and showed me how to spray in the paddy field. Later when I sprayed in the paddy field the current insects were suppressed.

According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, aman paddy has been cultivated in 21,450 hectares of land in the upazila this time. According to local sources, there was a possibility of bumper yield of aman paddy in the upazila this time. But due to continuous heavy rains since the planting of paddy, unrecorded current insects started attacking the paddy fields. Meanwhile, the Upazila Agriculture Office went to the field to suppress the current insects. As the concerned people of the Upazila Agriculture Office gave correct advice from the side of the farmers day and night, at present the current insects are under control in this Upazila.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Sanjay Debnath said, "I and other officers and employees of my office are working day and night to help the farmers in controlling the current insects." In particular, the Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers inspected the paddy fields on the spot that the paddy fields have been attacked. However, the farmer did not understand that he was advising to identify and spray all the fields. He also commented that poor farmers are being assisted with pesticide sprays in the management of their agricultural offices.
