Liaquat, Rajshahi Bureau: "Community Policing Day" 2020 was celebrated on Saturday at the initiative of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police. Rasik Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Also present on the occasion were Hon`ble Member of Parliament for Women Reserved Seats Rajshahi-5 Mr. Mita Haque, Prof. Dr. Md. Mansur Rahman, MP, Rajshahi-5 Puthia and Durgapur, Abida Anjum Mita, MP, Women`s Seats-5 Rajshahi, Meraj Uddin Mollah , Former MP-3, President, Rajshahi District Awami League, Professor Maha Habibur Rahman, Principal, Rajshahi College, Professor. Md. Abdul Khaleq, Convener, Rajshahi Metropolitan Community Policing Coordinating Committee, KM Habibur Rahman, Member Secretary, Rajshahi Metropolitan Community Policing Coordinating Committee, Md. Dablu Sarkar, General Secretary, Rajshahi Metropolitan Awami League, Mr. Anil Kumar, President, Bangladesh Puja And Chairman Bagmara Upazila, Dr. Md. On the occasion of the occasion, the distinguished guests flew colorful balloons, festoons and pigeons at the Rajshahi College premises at 10.30 am and the Mayor announced the auspicious inauguration of Community Policing Day-2020.
The event was attended by members of the community policing, local dignitaries and the general public. At the end of the inaugural ceremony, a discussion meeting started with recitation of Quran at Rajshahi College Auditorium. Md. Abu Kalam Siddique, Commissioner of Police, RMP presided over the function.
The invited guests gave various speeches on community policing. In his speech, the chief guest highlighted the various successes of Community Policing Day in combating drug-militancy and terrorism. He said that it was possible to eradicate all kinds of crimes including drug-militancy and terrorism and juvenile gangs by building bridges between the police and the public through community policing. Keeping in view the slogan of "Mujibarsha Mulamantra-Community Policing Everywhere", the conviction was expressed to reach out to the people through police service community policing. Bangladesh Police has always worked by the side of the people in the exhaustion of the nation and those people are the community policing. At the end of the discussion, crests and certificates were distributed among 04 best community policing officers and 04 best community policing members from Police Headquarters and 12 more best community policing members from Rajshahi Metropolitan Police for their significant contribution in community policing activities. In his speech, the Commissioner of Police sought the full cooperation of all to build a drug-militant-terrorism-free country through community policing.
