Press Release: Alhamra Nasreen Hossain Luiza, Chairman of Borno Prokash Limited, a national publication house, observed that women in our country are being discouraged into business due to lack of their social security.
Women, who have potentials, want to be self-reliant through business. But lack of social safety and other problems are hindering their business, she said.
She remarked addressing the launching ceremony of ‘Adhora Food’ at Modhumoti Model Town/present Nandanik Housing at Masjid Road at Amin Bazar in Savar recently.
Titled with a slogan ‘We will build a healthy life with safe food’, Adhora Food court was launched in order to ensure health rights of people by supplying safe and nutritious foods.
In our country, food adulteration is now a big problem, which posed a grave health risk for us.
Taking the matter into consideration, Luiza started the food court for providing safe food to people.
Luiza said: “Businesswomen fall victim to sexual harassment while dealing with males. They face negative behaviour from male counterparts regarding business transaction. Males underestimate the capacity of females, and not eager to give due payment to females in business transaction”.
There is no guarantee of security for businesswomen when they return home from business house late at night. Families try to discourage women into business because of the insecurity, she observed.
She suggested the following steps for creating a business friendly environment for women: Arrangement of capital for business, ensuring social security, ensuring necessary support from families, and eradicating all kinds of misconception about women.
Dr. ATM Rezaul Haque, chief advisor of Borno Prokash; Mukter Hossain; manager of Borno; among others, spoke at the event.
