Former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari has sought bail from the High Court in a sedition case filed over disrespecting the national flag.
His lawyer filed an application with the relevant section of the High Court on Sunday (January 19), seeking the bail.
The High Court bench of Justice Md Atoar Rahman and Justice Md Ali Reza will hear the bail plea on Monday.
Earlier, on January 3, Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Saiful Islam rejected the bail plea of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, who was sent to jail on November 26 last year.
Chinmoy, who is also the spokesperson for Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote, was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of police from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area in Dhaka in the evening of November 25.
On October 31, a case was filed with Kotwali Police Station in Chattogram, accusing Chinmoy and 18 others.
Firoz Khan, the then general secretary of Mohora ward BNP, filed the case on charges of disrespecting Bangladesh`s national flag in Chattogram`s New Market area during a rally of the Hindu community on October 25.
