Online Desk : Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members have detained gold trader Monirul Islam alias `Golden Monir` alongwith illegal arms and drugs during a raid at his residence in capital`s Merul Badda.

A team of the elite force, led by its Executive Magistrate Polash Kumar Basu, raided Monir`s house on Friday night and conducted the drive till Saturday morning, RAB headquarters confirmed.

Lt Col Ashiq Billah, the RAB legal and media wing, said huge amount of gold ornaments and foreign currencies were also seized from a floor of the six-storey building.

The elite force conducted the raid on charge of amassing wealth illegally.
