Throat-slit bodies of father-daughter found in M`singh

Police recovered the throat-slit bodies of a father and his daughter from their home in Mymensingh`s Haluaghat upazila on Wednesday.

The bodies were found around 4:30 am at Amirkhakura village under Bhubankura union of the upazila.

The dead were identified as Md Ratan Mia, 30, and his seven-year-old daughter, Noria Akter. Ratan worked as a garment factory worker in Dhaka.


Confirming the incident, Haluaghat Circle’s Additional Superintendent of Police Md Hafizur Rahman said being informed, police entered Ratan’s house around 4 am and found Ratan’s body with his throat slit on the bed, while his daughter Noria’s body was lying on the floor. A knife was recovered from the scene, he said.

He added that Ratan’s wife was also found with her throat cut and has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment.

“Investigation is underway to determine whether it was a murder or a domestic dispute that escalated into a violent tragedy,” the police official said. The bodies have been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, and legal proceedings are in progress.
