A total of 14 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in the capital Dhaka and its surrounding districts to maintain overall law and order and ensure public safety.
BGB’s public relations officer, Md Shariful Islam, confirmed the information on Wednesday (November 12) morning. He said BGB personnel are working to uphold law and order and protect people’s lives and property.
In recent days, nearly 10 buses have been set on fire and several crude bomb explosions have occurred in different parts of the capital. Several arrests have been made in connection with these incidents.
The deployment comes ahead of the verdict in the case against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, scheduled for November 13. Tension has been running high in Dhaka and across the country in anticipation of the ruling.
Meanwhile, various rumors and misinformation have been spreading on social media — including claims of planned mass gatherings to create chaos, possible lockdown announcements, attacks on key installations, and arson targeting vehicles. Alleged miscreants have carried out sporadic secret attacks at several locations over the past few days.
