Press secy calls ambassador appointment rumours baseless
  Date : 15-11-2025

Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, has firmly rejected recent media reports suggesting that Lamia Morshed, Lutfey Siddiqui, Husna Siddiqui, and Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan are set to be appointed as ambassadors.Journalism training workshops

In a strongly worded Facebook post issued on Saturday, he described the reports as “baseless, deliberately misleading, and devoid of any factual foundation.” He emphasized that no such appointments are under consideration by the interim government.

He condemned the report for using derogatory language and comparing the prestigious diplomatic post to trivial acts, calling it “extremely insulting and reprehensible” for all involved. He described the story as motivated by personal vendetta and lacking professional journalistic standards, and urged the media outlet to withdraw it and issue a formal apology.

Meanwhile, Lamia Morshed clarified that she has never expressed any desire to join the diplomatic service and intends to continue her current work. She has been serving at the Yunus Centre for 31 years, contributing significantly to Bangladesh’s international engagements, and currently performs her duties in the interim government.

The report had also claimed that Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan, Lamia Morshed, Lutfe Siddiqui, and Husna Siddiqui were in the process of being appointed ambassadors, with formal communication sent to Copenhagen for the VC’s approval as Bangladesh’s next envoy to Denmark.
