   Op-ed
We have to think about the education system in rural areas
  Date : 24-04-2024

M Sayem Ahmad

Education is the backbone of a nation that has been familiar to all of us since childhood. Without education no country or nation can reach the pinnacle of development. The more educated a nation is, the more developed it is. The word is just as real as it is unreal. Because, even with this education system that is divided. And those are the education system in urban areas and the education system in rural areas.

The education system in urban areas is better and more modern. The students here are getting the opportunity to study academically as well as gaining knowledge in other subjects. In this case, the image of rural students is different. Just as they are getting less opportunity to study academically here, they are being deprived of gaining knowledge on various subjects. Rural students are being deprived of gaining knowledge in various computer courses, English speaking and many other subjects. And urban students can easily learn about these issues. As a result, Rural students are lagging far behind and urban students are moving forward. It can be seen by reviewing the education system in the rural areas. The rural education system lags behind the urban education system due to many reasons. Such as lack of adequate accountability. Teachers in rural educational institutions are not aware of students. There are some teachers in the educational institutions in the rural areas. When they came to the educational institution, they left again. In other words, there is no sense of responsibility. But the picture is different in urban areas.

They carry out their responsibilities properly as there is adequate accountability in urban areas. As a result, students can achieve a full education. So in this case the teachers of the rural areas have to implement accountability and be aware of the students. There are enough subject teachers in urban educational institutions. As a result, students have the opportunity to acquire thematic knowledge. But if we look at rural educational institutions, the opposite is true. There is a shortage of subject teachers here. As a result, students in rural areas are lagging behind in acquiring thematic knowledge and are being deprived of full education. And for this reason, subject based teachers have to be recruited in the rural educational institutions and they have to fulfill their responsibilities properly. Because, It is not possible to acquire a complete education without acquiring thematic knowledge. Another reason why rural students are lagging behind is the lack of opportunities for practical education. It goes without saying that there is no opportunity for practical education in rural educational institutions. Although there is, it is very insignificant. Even though it is very effective, it is not. However, there are arrangements for practical or laboratory classes in urban educational institutions. As a result, students in urban areas are getting practical education and students in rural areas are lagging behind day by day. In this case, we want to implement it by taking steps of practical education system in rural educational institutions. There is no competitive examination system in rural educational institutions. Their activities are limited to half-yearly and annual examinations only. But in urban educational institutions, different class tests, Conducts weekly and monthly examinations. As a result, the students are able to verify their merits. Rural students are lagging behind. Therefore, it is necessary to implement it by taking the initiative of competitive examination in the rural educational institutions like the urban educational institutions. There is a lack of various types of competition in the rural educational institutions. Debate competitions, quiz competitions, tournaments and much more. In this case, the urban organizations organize these competitions. As a result, Students are getting the opportunity to develop their latent talents by participating in other competitions including debate competitions. But students in rural areas are not getting such opportunities. It goes without saying that educational tours are not organized or initiated in rural educational institutions. But every year educational tours are organized with the students in the educational institutions of the urban areas. As a result, students can go to different tourist areas and acquire outside knowledge. As a result, they are ahead of rural students. In this case, the students should be given the opportunity to develop their latent talents by organizing educational tours and various competitions in the rural educational institutions. Just as parents in urban areas are aware of their children, parents in rural areas are not aware of their children. Since there is a huge income disparity between urban and rural, The way a parent in an urban area can arrange a private tutor or coaching for his / her child for every subject due to the relatively high income. But it becomes quite difficult for the guardians of the countryside. As well as the availability of good private tutors or coaching, the availability of adequate teaching materials, technical assistants, urban students are ahead in all aspects.

Although some parents in rural areas have enough money, they have no choice but to send their children to school in the city. There is nothing for them except school teachers and textbooks, helpful books. Maybe if the teaching in the educational institution was ensured properly, there would be no need for anything else. But it is not being arranged. On the contrary, rural students are lagging behind day by day.

The government is investing in education. But directly and indirectly, a large part of that investment is being borne by urban institutions. On the other hand, the rate of investment in rural educational institutions is much lower than required. Just as there is a lack of classrooms in rural educational institutions, there is also a lack of libraries and science laboratories. That is, state-invested money is not being distributed equally to all institutions. Or it can be said that it is not being distributed as per the need. Therefore, just as there are adequate libraries and science laboratories in the urban educational institutions, it should be arranged in the educational institutions in the rural areas. This discriminatory environment of education is detrimental to the country. At the rate at which the education system is advancing in urban areas, the education system in rural areas is struggling to keep pace. The picture of inequality emerges after the publication of SSC and HSC results every year. So finally, The government has to think about the education system in rural areas. Along with the development of urban education system, importance should be given to rural education system. The rural education system must be taken forward. It needs to be implemented by taking steps to change all kinds of inconsistencies in the rural education system. It is necessary to ensure that the money invested by the state is distributed equally among all the institutions. Then it is possible to build Bangabandhu`s golden Bengal by lighting the lamp of education. And our golden Bengal will go a long way in keeping pace with globalization. The country will reach the highest peak of development. It is necessary to ensure that the invested money is distributed equally among all the organizations. Then it is possible to build Bangabandhu`s golden Bengal by lighting the lamp of education. And our golden Bengal will go a long way in keeping pace with globalization. The country will reach the highest peak of development. It is necessary to ensure that the invested money is distributed equally among all the organizations.
