Boats won 3 out of 4 municipalities in Kushtia, torch won in 1

In the municipal elections held in the second phase, Kushtia, Kumarkhali, Bheramara and Mirpur have won the boat in 3 of the 4 municipalities and the torch symbol in 1. Returning officers of the concerned municipalities have confirmed the results. Kushtia Additional Deputy Commissioner General and Returning Officer Lutfun Nahar said after the day-long counting and counting of votes on Saturday, Anwar Ali, the Awami League-backed boat symbol candidate in KushtiaMunicipality, won with 66,052 votes. Bashirul Alam Chand, the BNP-backed candidate for the top symbol of paddy, got 14,613 votes. Mirpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Returning Officer Lincoln Biswas said Haji Enamul Haque, the Awami League-backed boat symbol candidate, won the by-poll with 10,400 votes. The nearest rival independent candidate got 2,515 votes for the mobile symbol. Bheramara Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Returning Officer Sohail Maruf said that Anwarul Kabir Tutul got 6,003 votes for the torch symbol supported by Jasad in the private results. The nearest rival Awami League-backed boat symbol candidate Shamimul Islam Chana got 5,601 votes. Kumarkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Returning Officer Rajibul Islam Khan said that in private results, Awami League-backed boat symbol candidate Shamsuzzaman Arun got 10,110 votes in KumarkhaliMunicipality. The nearest rival BNP-backed paddy sheaf symbol got 2,308 votes.
