Husband sentenced to death for killing wife in Kurigram |

Kurigram District and Sessions Judge`s Court has sentenced husband Bakul, 25, to death for killing a housewife named Shahina Begum, 20, at Char Rajibpur in Kurigram. Wise District and Sessions Judge gave the verdict on Tuesday afternoon. Abdul Mannan. Court and Kurigram Public Prosecutor Advocate SM Abraham Lincoln said Shahina Begum, daughter of Shamsul Haque of Karkhana Para village in Dewanganj upazila of Jamalpur district, was married in 2005 to Bakul, son of late Azizul Haque of Char Sajai Nayapara village in Char Rajibpur upazila of Kurigram. After two years of marriage, Shahina was found dead in her husband`s house on December 2, 2008 at 8 am. Shahina was strangled to death after finding out that her husband was having an illicit affair with her sister-in-law. Shahina`s father Shamsul Haque filed a murder case with Char Rajibpur Police Station on January 17, 2008. After a long hearing, the wise District and Sessions Judge of Kurigram found the allegations to be true and sentenced the accused Bakul to death. PP Advocate SM Abraham Lincoln conducted the case on behalf of the state and Advocate Muh Fakrul Islam represented the accused.
