IU holds seminar on modern trends

A SEMINAR on modern trends and D.H. Lawrence’s views was held at Islamic University in Kushtia on Wednesday.

Islamic University English department organised the seminar at the second floor of Rabindra-Nazrul arts’ faculty building in the morning.

IU English department Professor M Shahadat Hossain Azad addressed the seminar as the chief discussant while Professor M Maher Ali, Professor Miah M Rashiduzzaman, associate Professor Prodip Kumar Adhikar delivered speech as the discussants with English department chairperson Professor Mossammad Salma Sultana was in the chair.

IU English department assistant Professor Liton Baron Sikder conducted the seminar while the department’s assistant Professor Prokash Chandra Biswas presented the article under the supervision of Professor M Mizanur Rahman of the same department.

Addressing the seminar, the speakers said that D.H. Lawrence occupied the crucial part of English literature whose writing explores different issues such as sexuality, emotional health, vitality, spontaneity, and instinct.

The speakers also shed lights on Victorianism, Modernism, Industrialization, Psychoanalysis, Sexuality, Oedipal Complex and Morbidity.

Around 50 teachers of different departments took part in the seminar.
