`Pandemic and our education system` - who will be the actual victim
  Date : 19-04-2024

Shahida Aroby: Corona pandemic has started to stop the whole world again. The number of people affected and death with the virus is increasing day by day. Because this wave is stronger than the first wave of corona. But when the pandemic started in 2020, scientists wondered that if there would be waves of cases and unfortunately their assumption has come true. It is the most sadest that no one can predict, where it ends.

Though corona is an infectious disease, it spreads man to man. So from keeping ownself scqure, there are many prevention measures like using mask, maintaing 3 feet distance from others, staying home, retraing from smoking etc. Besides that our govt. has also taken some steps. To prevent social gathering, many places like market, office, educational institutions, tourist place had been closed. But in the last of the year when corona situation was almost under controll, govt decided to open all these place, aspect educational institution. As a result, our all educational institutions are closed for almost one year.

It is said that education is the backbone of a nation and students are considered as a future leader of any country.but during corona pandemic, our govt has forced to close this institution to prevent social gathering. But to make up their study gap govt has already given `Auto pass` to all students of school level, even in hsc level also. They all have got the Auto promossion in next class.  But will their auto pass be effective to build a career as they want?

Though all educational institutions are closed, classes are taken through online.  But still 20% students are not getting this opportunity due to proverty or internet access. Even these online classes make students more attracted in electronic device. They are passing their all day with mobile phone, laptop etc. These can be the cause of their mental health damage.  Besides, by doing online classes, students are not benefiting because, most of the time they dont get full attention in class. Students just join the class and pass their time in own way. So online class sould be changed in pattern so that students become interested. Because without online classes, there is no alternative to continue the study in this situation.

There will be a question arise that, by closing all educational institution, is it really possible to prevent social gathering and maintain student`s health? Because in this time when their institutions are off, they are getting enough time to pass. They spacialy the male students go outside and make fun with their friends.even some of them are going many tourist place. Basically students have made the time as their vacation and they are not interested to maitain any kind of safety measurements. They think their immune system is strong so they won`t affect corona. Those thinking have increased the rate of affecting of them and their family.

It is also a matter of concern that, as school, college are closed for a long time, in this time the rate of child marriage is increasing day by day. Because gurdians are concern about their children`s future and to protect their daughter form social harassment, they think marriage is the only solution. But even they dont think that, in their, their little daughter may face more harassment. For getting married at an early age they give birth at early age also. Sometimes this is the cause of premature baby or mother`s death.

In University levele, there are only few university in our country who take online class regularly so that their students can complete their study in proper time. But rest of the university dont takes classes regularly. So the students of university are getting depressed day by day. They dont know when their graduation will complete. Many of them might not back to their institution because they got engaged in works to cope up with the financial problem of their family.

Our govt tring to protect the health of students so that they fixed to close it .but isn`t  this increasing the depression of students ? So this is the time to take proper decision. Though the situation is going to be more critical, so the alternative way should be think. We hope that the corona situation will be normal soon, so education institutions need to be prepared for re opening. Untill institution can continue their online classes and exam properly, so that students can touch with study. And it should be increased,  the age of applying in job sector, because in this pandemic, its not possible to take all job exam. In future, our students will be the leader of country. So it is our duty to scqure their educational life. If the students lost the pace of studying because of this pandemic,  it will surely push the country`s development  backward.
