Distribution of food items among the destitute and unemployed people

Liakut, Rajshahi Bureau: At the initiative of Rajshahi district administration, food items have been distributed among the unemployed, destitute and helpless people in the situation created due to the lockdown of corona virus spread.

Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir was present as the chief guest while distributing food items at RiverviewCollectorateSchool ground in the city at 11 am on Saturday.

Among others present on the occasion were Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil, Deputy Director (Local Government) Shahana Akhtar Jahan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Muhammad Shariful Haque, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Nazrul Islam, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate (Land) Boalia Circle. Md. Abul Hayat, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate (Treasury Branch, e-Services, Front Desk) George Mitra Chakma, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate (General Branch and Business and Commerce Branch) Abhijit Sarkar, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Sumon Chowdhury, Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Lasmi Chakma, Headmistress of Riverview Collectorate School Monowara Begum.

According to a recent government decision to prevent the spread of the corona virus in Mujib`s year, the department handed over a packet containing the PM`s gift to the poor and needy people of the city from the District Disaster Management Fund, which was collected locally among helpless families during the lockdown.

As a relief, 20 kg of rice, 1 kg of pulses, 1 kg of pulses, 1 kg of chira, 1 kg of onion, 2 kg of potatoes and 500 g of soybean oil were given in a packet.

While distributing the relief, the divisional commissioner Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir said, "As per the government`s decision to prevent the spread of Corona virus, the Prime Minister has directed to provide relief to all the working people who have lost their jobs and are living in dire straits during the lockdown. Food items have been distributed. In the future, day laborers, hijras, harijans, methars, slum dwellers of Rajshahi City Corporation and transport workers will be brought under relief in phases.

Divisional Commissioner Dr.Md. Humayun Kabir further said that relief is being distributed in all the districts of Rajshahi division. We want no one to starve in this situation. As long as the lockdown continues, relief distribution activities will continue among the helpless and indigent people of the society. Those among the lower and middle classes who are reluctant to seek help in public are telephoning and texting us. Gifts are being delivered to them from house to house.

Coroner also called on the government as well as wealthy individuals and organizations of the society to come forward in this emergency. Md. Humayun Kabir.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil said, "We have started distribution of relief items under the direction of Hon`ble Prime Minister. Today, food items have been distributed to about 200 helpless and affected families. We also have adequate relief stocks. Relief has reached the upazila level outside the metropolis and distribution of relief items among helpless people." In addition, cash is being provided to some indigent families. "

Besides, under the direction of Hon`ble Prime Minister, a total of Tk. 9 crore 9 lakh allocated including 9 upazilas, 14 municipalities and Rajshahi City Corporation of Rajshahi district will be paid from Saturday, said Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil.

Adri Begum of Darikharbana area of ​​the city said, "The Prime Minister has given me food. I am very happy to her. I pray for her. May Allah guide her."

Another beneficiary of the city`s hijra community said, "I couldn`t do any work in the lockdown. So I couldn`t eat exactly three meals a day. Today I got the food on the behalf of PM; I will eat to my heart`s content. She thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the relief."
