Women detained with drugs in Tongi

Hasan Mahmud, Tongi: Police have arrested a woman named Shirin Akhter (29) from Tongi in Gazipur with drugs. At that time, 30 bottles of Phensidyl, four and a half liters of Phensidyl and cash for sale of drugs were recovered from him.

He was arrested after raiding a house at Shakil Sarani in Auchpara around 11:30 am on Saturday. Detainee Shirin Akter is the wife of Aslam Miah of Sindur Kora village under Damudda police station in Shariatpur district.

Tongi West Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Alam confirmed the information and said that Tongi West Police Sub-Inspectors Uttam Kumar and Kaiser Hasan raided Khan Manzil on Shakil Sarani in Auch Para. After detaining Shirin Akhter from a flat on the ground floor of the house, they searched her house and recovered 30 bottles of Phensidyl, four and a half liters of Phensidyl and Tk. 33,500 in cash.

During the preliminary interrogation, the arrested woman confessed to selling Phensidyl in Tongi and surrounding areas for a long time. A case has been registered at Tongi police station in this regard.

The OC added that in the last five months, the woman has moved four houses with her husband. An operation is underway to arrest the couple`s associates in the drug trade.
