KM Rubel, Faridpur: Oliyar Rahman, the father of Jannat Ara Jharna, the `second wife` of Mamunul Haque, the central joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam, has been taken into police custody. A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police-DMP`s DB police took him from Faridpur`s Alfadanga police station to Dhaka around 11:30 am on Sunday.

Oliyar Rahman was the president of ward 4 of Gopalpur Union Awami League in Alfadanga upazila. He was expelled from the meeting of the executive committee of the union Awami League on the afternoon of April 21.

Officer-in-charge of Alfadanga Police Station Md Wahiduzzaman said Oliyar Rahman was not detained or arrested. Maybe the DMP`s DB police will talk to him (Oliver) in the interest of investigating their case.

"We brought him to the police station from his house in Kamargram on Saturday night," he added. A DB team left for Dhaka with Oliyar Rahman around 11:30 am on Sunday. As far as I know, he was taken to Dhaka for the purpose of investigation of the case.

Shirina Begum, wife of Oliyar Rahman, said that the OC and the people of the police station came at night and took her (Oliyar Rahman). I don`t know why you took it.

Earlier on April 12, the union sent a show cause notice to Oliar Rahman stating why he would not be expelled from the Awami League. The notice asked him to respond within seven days. April 19 passed those seven days. In this context, at an executive meeting of the Union Awami League on 21 April, it was decided to temporarily expel Oliyar from the party.

Hefazat-e-Islam joint secretary general Mamunul Haque was surrounded along with a woman on April 3 at a resort in Sonargaon area of ​​Narayanganj. The woman`s name is Jannat Ara Jharna. Hefazat leader Mamunul Haque then claimed her as his second wife. Hefazat leader was arrested in a case at Mohammadpur police station in the capital on Sunday.
