MT correspondent: The Quantum Burial Activities Team has been working tirelessly to bury thousands of people who died in the Corona virus epidemic. They have already completed the burial of more than 3,500 dead people.
In this context, The Muslim Times spoke with Khandaker Sajibul Islam, in-charge of Quantum Burial Team. He said, "Quantum was, is, and will be by everyone`s side at any time."
"The transgender woman Sajib Satej Sanjivani has attended the funerals of more than three hundred people individually. She is still working on the funerals of those who died of the corona virus epidemic," Khandaker Sajibul Islam said.
After two months in Chittagong and then in Dhaka for nine months, the bodies of the people who died of coronavirus were bathed according to their religious rites and the funeral procession was done with their own hands.
Asked how she got involved in this work, she said, “I used to teach dance to the students of QuantumFoundationSchool and College in Bandarban. When the epidemic started in the country, when people refused to take the bodies of their relatives, the Quantum Foundation decided to stay by the side of the people who died of the virus across the country. With the approval of the Department of Health, they formed several teams for burial. Without missing a chance, I joined as a member of a team. ”
Sanjivani further said that she came to Chittagong from Bandarban to be a partner in this work. From then on, she started living with the deadly virus. Whenever news of the death comes the team members rushed there. Now she is working in Dhaka. The bodies of people who died of coronavirus are being collected from the streets and hospitals of the city by ambulance.
Asked about her experience in the case, she told the media, "I have seen that many relatives of the dead people in Corona did not even come around the bodies. At that time, we were the closest companions to those bodies." Then it seemed to me that I was accompanying my own man, I was poor in his happiness and sorrow. I will never forget these moments. ”
Asked about her family, she told media “My family loves me. I believe they will be by my side in any danger. But since my childhood, they have been despised by me. So I don`t go home on my own. I don`t want people to humiliate them for me. ”
The 26-year-old Sanjivani is a dancer and dance teacher by profession. She grew up in Dhanbari upazila of Tangail. She has passed both Honors and Masters in Political Science from ChittagongUniversity with first class.
The way to get so far has wounded him in many ways. Socially oppressed, persecuted many times. He also received death threats.
Sanjivani asked, “I want the attitude of the society to change. I am not the last person like that. Why can`t we consider people with their talents, work, behavior, qualifications?
Khandaker Sajibul Islam, in-charge of Quantum Burial Team, told The Muslim Times; She has a desire to work for people. So we added her to our team. We believe in people above religion, caste, tribe, gender. Wherever there are limitations, people can turn around well. It is our responsibility to create opportunities for them.”
