Saiful Islam, Singra: In order to protect Singra and Chalanbil from the onslaught of the catastrophic floods, the administration has started evicting illegal canals on the AtraiRiver in advance. The Singra Upazila Administration and Fisheries Department on Wednesday evicted 15 establishments from the AtraiRiver in the Kalinagar area of Kalom Union, known as the land of terror. At that time bonds were taken from those involved in the installation of Sontijal. Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Rakibul Hasan, Senior Fisheries Officer Shahadat Hossain, Inspector of Police of Singra Police Station Rafiqul Islam and others were present.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Rakibul Hasan said the eviction of illegal installations on the river has started on the instructions of State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak. Hopefully in the next couple of days it will be possible to evict all the installations. And the administration is quite cautious and active in this regard.
Note that more than a hundred springs in the Singra area of the AtraiRiver obstructed the flow of water in 2020. This took the form of a terrible flood of remembrance. Finally, on October 3 last year, State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak declared zero tolerance against Sontijal. And Sontijal himself got out of the eviction. Since then, the state minister has been issuing strict instructions against Palak Sontijal.
Meanwhile, the people of the area, including the local voluntary environmental organization Chalanbil Biodiversity Protection Committee, have congratulated the administration for this campaign in advance.
