Disobeying court ban: Cutting down trees from government khas land in Salanga
  Date : 20-04-2024

Rafiqul Islam, Sirajganj: A former headmaster named Muslim Uddin Talukder has cut down mahogany trees worth lakhs of rupees from 17 decimal government khas land in defiance of the ban imposed by the Hon`ble court.

It is learned that Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Sirajganj filed a petition in Raiganj Upazila Assistant Court on February 9, 2021 to take possession of 0.17 acres of government khas land. Muslim Uddin Talukder, son of late Saheb Ali Talukder of Bhar Mohani village in Madhyapara, filed a case against Raiganj, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Raiganj and Assistant Commissioner (VM). Case No. 11/2021 Eng. The court accepted the case and imposed a ban on the khas land, saying that the status quo on the khas land would remain the same.

But Muslim Uddin Talukder planned to build a three-storey multi-storey building in some part of the 17th century on khas land and cut down the remaining lakhs of mahogany trees last Sunday and left them in the local mill.

Muslim Uddin Talukder, a former headmaster of Chaubila High School and a government land grabber, said, "I did not disobey the court order." Not from the 365 mark of the khas land, I have cut down 10 mahogany trees from the 364 mark of my proprietor. The court order was not disobeyed here.

In this regard, Raiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Rajibul Alam said, a case has been filed regarding 17 decimal khas lands but he has not received the documents. However, we will take legal action against him if he cuts down trees from khas land.
