Raihan`s death: Charge sheet submitted against 5 cops

Staff Reporter: The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) today submitted a charge sheet against six people including five policemen in a case filed over the death of Rayhan Ahmed at Bandarbazar police outpost in Sylhet.

“The charge sheet was filed to the prosecution section of the court,” Md Humayun Kabir, Special Superintendent of PBI in Sylhet, said this at a press briefing at 12:30pm.

Sylhet District Police Superintendent Khaled-uz-Zaman and investigation officer of the case Mohammad Awlad Hossen were present among others during this time.

The accused are Akbar Hossen Bhuiyan, suspended Sub Inspector of Bandarbazar police outpost, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Asheke Elahi, ASI Md Hasan Uddin, constables Harur or Rashid, Titu Chandra Das and journalist Abdullah Al Noman.

To be noted, Rayhan was tortured at Sylhet’s Bandarbazar Police Outpost on October 11 last year and died an hour after he was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Hospital by police personnel.
